چکیده

Methods Among patients with JIA treated with ETA from 2000 (n = 46), we identified patients in remission defined by a sustained good clinical response according to physicians of our departments for at least 1,5 years and discontinued ETA. The disease course was evaluated using physician and parent/patients VAS for disease activity, active joints, joints with LOM, CHAQ, ESR, CRP. A bivariate analysis of the relationship between JIA subtype, sex, age at onset JIA, disease duration at start of ETA, MTX association, time on ETA (before tapering and total), clinical remission on ETA (defined by Wallace) and disease course was undertaken using the Chi-square or Fisher’s exact test and the Wilcoxon test.

A follow-up study of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis who discontinued etanercept due to disease remission.

OBJECTIVES Assessment of the post-etanercept (ET) disease course in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) who discontinued the drug due to disease remission, using a recently developed tool that scores the disease activity. METHODS Eleven patients (F/M 9/2, median age 9.2 years), with either a polyarthritis' (9) or an oligoarthritis' (2) disease course were followed up for 12.25-2...

MRP8/14 serum levels as a predictor of response to starting and stopping anti-TNF treatment in juvenile idiopathic arthritis

INTRODUCTION Approximately 30% of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) patients fail to respond to anti-TNF treatment. When clinical remission is induced, some patients relapse after treatment has been stopped. We tested the predictive value of MRP8/14 serum levels to identify responders to treatment and relapse after discontinuation of therapy. METHODS Samples from 88 non-systemic JIA patient...

Duration of etanercept treatment and reasons for discontinuation in a cohort of juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients.

OBJECTIVE Since 2004, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) patients treated with etanercept and/or MTX have been monitored in the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Biologics and New Drug Register. Here, we report the duration of etanercept use for the first 5 years of the register and reasons for discontinuation. METHODS Disease subtype and activity, comorbidity, treat...

Etanercept discontinuation in a cohort of juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients: etanercept inefficacy but not intolerance is associated with oral corticosteroid use

The British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology (BSPAR) Biologics Register monitors JIA patients treated with etanercept +/methotrexate. We report duration of etanercept use and reasons for discontinuation, defined as cessation due to disease control or treatment failure; not including precautionary or temporary drug discontinuation for transient adverse events. KaplanMeier survi...

Etanercept and urticaria in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Etanercept, a tumor necrosis factor receptor p75 Fc fusion protein (TNFR:Fc; Enbrel), has preliminarily been shown to be effective in the management of methotrexate-resistant polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Reported side-effects have been minor, for example injection site reactions and upper respiratory tract infections, not necessitating discontinuation of the medication (1,...
